How to use ArtCall to Apply to Artist Market 2023

  1. When on the ArtCall website, click the Register & Apply Button at the top of the page or on the Home page.
  2. Create an account
    1. Create an account by filling in the required information in the form. If you already have an ArtCall account, you can use that to login using the green Login button. 
    2. Once you have created the account, it will ask for supplementary information. Please fill in all information, including your Artist Statement, the Artist Biography, and the demographic information. This information is for staff program evaluation use only and will not be shared outside of the MMFA. 
    3. Once you have filled in all informatino, click the orange button that says Update User Profile.
  3. Applying for Artist Market
    1. Add New Application
      1. Click the orange button that says Add New Application+. Note: Artist Market 2023 only allows one application per person. 
      2. If you would like to apply as a personal artist and also on behalf of another organization (such as art clubs for colleges), please reach out to the program organizer at shop@mmfa.org
    2. Pay the application entry fee. 
      1. There is a $10 fee to apply; the fee is waived for MMFA members. For information about the MMFA member discount or becoming a member, email Sarah Graves at sgraves@mmfa.org.
      2. If you are an MMFA member and received a discount code, put that into the blue button that says Enter Promo Code first and it will waive your fee. 
      3. Click the orange button that says Submit Payment Charge.
    3. Add Entry Details
      1. This is where you submit information about your booth and the art you plan to sell at Artist Market. Please make sure to read the instructions on the page carefully and fill in the information accurately.
      2. Category
        1. Artist Market Vendor: Select this if you are applying to be a vendor and are not a college student
        2. Student Artist Market Vendor: Select this if you are applying to be a vendor and are a currently enrolled as a college student
      3. Application Title
        1. This describes your application and what you are applying for and is not seen by the MMFA or the juror. It is a way for you to keep track of your application in ArtCall.
        2. Enter "Artist Market 2023" or Your Name and Artist Market 2023, whatever is the easiest way for you to keep track of your application. 
      4. What kind of artist are you?
        1. This question tells us what kind of artist you identify as
        2. Examples: painter, mixed-media artist, textile artist, graphic designer, sculptor, author, illustrator, etc.
      5. What kind of art do you create?
        1. This question tells us what kind of art will be for sale at your booth at Artist Market.
        2. Select as many as you would like. 
      6. What is your preferred medium?
        1. Please only put in one, at most two. 
        2. Examples: Acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, clay, glass, metal, cotton, wood, etc.
      7. Select the price range(s) of your works. 
        1. Select all that apply. 
        2. While you are not required to, we recommend bringing pieces to sell that cover a wide range of price points.
      8. First choice booth location
        1. Indicate your preferred booth location. 
        2. Booth fees are dependent on the size and location of the booth. All materials brought must be contained within your booth space.
          1. Small 10x10 Interior booth inside in Lowder Gallery: $100 ($1/sq ft)
            1. No tent is required for indoor vendors
            2. Comes with one table and two chairs
            3. Small tabletop lights are permitted
            4. No large screens
            5. Some 120V electrical access is available
          2. Medium 15x15 Corner Booth inside in Lowder Gallery: $200 ($1.13/sq ft)
            1. No tent is required for indoor vendors
            2. Comes with one table and two chairs; one additional table may be requested free of charge
            3. Small tabletop lights and display screens (Under 6ft) are permitted
            4. No large screens or lights
            5. 120V Electrical access is available
          3. Large 20x20 Outside Booth in the Education Courtyard: $350 ($1.14/sq ft)
            1. Comes with one table and two chairs; one additional table may be requested free of charge
            2. Tent is required for setup; artists may bring their own tents or tents may be rented for $100. Tents should be at least 10x10 feet.
            3. Lights and display screens are permitted as long as they stay within your booth space.
            4. 120V Electrical access is available
        3. You will not be responsible for paying booth fees unless you are juried in to be a vendor at Artist Market. The program organizers will do their best to accommodate each artist's first choice.
      9. Second choice booth location
        1. Indicate your backup booth location. 
        2. Artists will be contacted before being assigned to their second choice booth location. 
      10. Are you interested in being a demo artist for Fall Festival for a reduced booth fee? 
        1. A demo artist runs an active demonstration during Artist Market and the Fall Festival event, showcasing the art they create, engaging with the public, and demonstrating techniques. 
        2. Demo artists may still sell their works. 
        3. Demo artists may only be in the Outdoors 20x20 booth location.
      11. Are you interested in serving as a consignment vendor in the Museum Shop 2024?
        1. The Museum Shop sells 20-25 local artist art through a consignment process with a 60/40 split. 
        2. The Shop changes out art for sale once a year in January; art is available for purchase from February through the end of December.
      12. Booth Details
        1. Booth payment is not due until the application is approved. 
        2. Select one of these three options: 10x10 interior booth $100, 15x15 Corner booth $200, 20x20 Outdoor booth $350
        3. Each booth comes with one table and two chairs. Artists may request an additional table and chair at no extra cost. 
        4. Electricity is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We cannot guarantee electrical access.
        5. Artists in the Outdoor area must have a 10x10 tent. Artists are welcome to bring their own or can rent a tent for $100.
      13. Terms and Conditions
        1. Read and then Click "I Agree" to the Terms & Conditions. 
      14. Submit Entry Details->
        1. That's it! You've submitted your application information. Now you need to submit images.
    4.  Add Entry Images
      1. Please upload at least three (3) example images and up to ten (10) images of what you would sell at Artist Market. 
      2. You must provide an example for each type of work you plan to sell. 
      3. Please make sure that all identifying markers (such as signature, your name, title of the work, etc) are not visible in the image. All images go to a blind jury; any identifying markers may skew the results and will not be shown to the jury.
      4. You must upload images one by one by either dragging and dropping an image into the Add Entry Attachment section or clicking the orange button that says + Attach File. 
        1. Each attached image will give you a chance to review it and adjust it. 
        2. Once the image is edited, click the yellow Done button in the top right corner. 
      5. Once the first image is submitted, it will take you back to the main screen of your application.
      6. To add more images, click the blue + Attachment button on the right side in the Actions column. This will take you to the previous screen and give you room to add another image. 
      7. Reminder: You may add up to 10 images to your application for review by the blind jury.
    5. That's it! Your application is submitted.

The Call for Entries closes on June 30, 2023.

All applications will be reviewed by the blind jury in early July. 

Notification emails will be sent out July 17, 2023.

Booth fees for those accepted into Artist Market are due July 31, 2023.
